Am I The Victim Or The Crime?

Don’t Say That Dirty Word (you know…rep#*$&can)

May 16th, 2008 by Rocky

With the Democratic presidential hopefuls slowing their mudslinging and McCain the chosen one for the conservatives, political ads seem to be going to a state level. The primaries have been held in New Mexico and we aren’t seeing much on the national elections but the dirt is flying here. This is the year we vote for our senate seats in D.C..

Teevee, radio and newspaper ads are all over the place. Medicine for poor kids is a big issue on all sides. Democratic candidates support the S CHIP plans while conservatives call it a taxing socialist program. The border fence is a big issue here with most Demo candidates opposing the the cost while the conservatives say it is necessary. The conservatives support George Bush and his war in Iraq while the Democrats are calling for a quick end to it. You know…the usual things that they are talking about and will probably do nothing about if elected. But the conservatives ads are different this time around.

With the disaster in the White House and all of the sex “scandals” involving the pure Christian dominated  party the conservatives are trying to distance themselves from it. Most of the people in the party are disgusted with their elected officials and don’t want to be associated with it. The political advisors see this and the advertisements here show it. While the independant and Democratic candidates are proudly claiming their affiliation the Repub….,oops can’t say that word, are leaving their parties name out of the whole deal. Sure, the guy who is actually a Libertarian and one fella who is calling for more Patriot Act money for border guards are claiming the name, but most of them are touting themselves as conservatives. They seem to know that claiming to be part of the same Party as the current administration can be detrimental to their campaign. They are still part of the whole pachyderm family but are trying to fool folks by not leaving the huge piles of elephant shit laying around the path of their run for office. At least by name.

I wonder if this is a trend all over or just here in New Mexico. I wouldn’t doubt this is the way it is all over the place seeing as how the Cheney/Bush administration has taken any good from the Repube name and now people look at it as almost a swear word.

I wonder if they think that saying the word Republican will cause them to owe a bunch of quarters to the swear jar.

Stumble it!
